I grew up eating horse meat in Europe. It wasn't bad, a bit salty maybe. But it was a cultural thing and well understood there. I Have a feeling that it might be too big a cultural shift for people in the states.
I don't like people eating horses .... why don't we just eat unwanted people ... old people, poor children .... you know ... who cares? They've outlived their usefullness
Admittedly not knowing the culinary cultural differences I decided to do a bit of research. My goal was to better understand where others may be coming from on issues such as this.
Interestingly enough, China does indeed eat both horse and children. The children part being a bit gruesome and from what I've read, not exactly "cultural".
Interesting. At the risk of sounding like a uncultured moron, I honestly did not know horse meat was a common item in Europe. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
Why is it, if something is done in Europe, it must be okay (or, often times superior) to practices in the US. How/why did Europe become the country we should mimic?
Because of what tadhmmm said above.
